Overheating is most often caused by either a poorly ventilated installation location or debris on the overheating sensor itself.
- First, check the location of the heater. If the heater is installed under the passenger seat of a van, it will most likely have an access hatch. If the issue is stemming from poor ventilation, then the heater can be tested by opening the access hatch, making sure to delete the overheating error code on the controller.
- If this fails, test the heater without the outlet hood and the ducting.
- If that fails, move on to removing the heater and cleaning the sensor.
- To clean the sensor, remove the top cover. The sensor is visible in its metal clip on the heat exchanger. Simply blowing on it should be enough, but cleaning the sensor with compressed air is preferred. If that fails, the sensor has to be replaced.
